WALKABOUT WEDNESDAY

Well hello there felines.  It's "Walkabout Wednesday" and this week my tunnel is hangin' out on the beaches of Australia...

My tunnel visited the iconic Bondi Beach...

And the popular Main Beach at Surfers Paradise...

Then my tunnel started fraternizing with woofies...

This woofie offered my tunnel some surfing pointers...

And then got in the water to demonstrate...

My tunnel took in all the information and then decided to go to Apollo Bay, a good surfing spot...

This little birdie cautioned my tunnel about going into the surf...

But my tunnel figured that the woofie had taught him well and decided to go surfing anyway...

Well folks, let's just say that Surf Rescue was soon on the scene, pulling my tunnel out of the waves...
I sure hope my tunnel makes it back in one piece after all theese adventures!

Once my tunnel recovered, it wrote me a purrsonal message in the sand...

WALKABOUT WEDNESDAY

Well hello there felines.  It's "Walkabout Wednesday" and my tunnel is still working its way through the big country of Australia...

My tunnel is on the lookout for wild kangaroos...

And it spotted this "mob" of roos near Merry Beach in New South Wales...

A group of kangaroos is referred to as a mob...

In 2011, it was estimated that 34.3 million kangaroos lived in Australia...Can you believe it?  That's almost the amount of people that live in our country of Canada (population: 35.16 million in 2013)!
Theese "mobs" are taking over!

My tunnel got up close to a little kangaroo in another location...

And then the roo grabbed the camera and took a selfie, too bad it's not Sunday!

Kangaroos usually hop at a speed of between 20-25 km/h (13-16 mph) and can also get up to speeds of 40-70 km/h (25-44 mph) for shorter distances...
For your viewing pleasure, here is a video of the kangaroos...

WALKABOUT WEDNESDAY

Well hello there felines.  It's "Walkabout Wednesday" and my tunnel is currently hoofing it through the gorgeous country of Australia...

It stopped on the Great Ocean Road in the town of Lorne, Victoria and met up with theese sulphur-crested cockatoos...

The cockatoos were just hanging out on the beach, talk about great
Bird TV!

Next up, theese rainbow lorikeets (a species of parrot) were spotted on Magnetic Island, Queensland...

Wow, I sure would like to have theese colorful birdies here in my yard at Headquarters...

Bird TV in HD!

Felines, gather around, here are the rainbow lorikeets in action...

WALKABOUT WEDNESDAY

Well hello there felines.  Welcome back to our 2nd installment of "Walkabout Wednesday"...

Having sprouted feets, my tunnel is out and about on new adventures...

And is touring the country of Australia, taking in the sights of the koalas...

Theese koalas live at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in Brisbane...

Because of their low energy diet, koalas sleep around 19 hours a day to conserve energy...they give us kitties a run for our money!

Lone Pine is the largest koala sanctuary in the world with 130 koalas...

Lone Pine started in 1927 with a single pair of koalas named Jack and Jill...Sarah one of the koalas that lived here holds the Guinness World Record for living until age 23...captive koalas typically live between twelve and fifteen years...

The koalas live in different places around the Sanctuary according to their age and gender...

"Kindergarten" is where the "toddlers run amok" according to the Sanctuary!  The koalas here are between one and two years of age...

The koalas at the Sanctuary can be held and hugged by the visitors...they are only held for a maximum of 30 minutes a day and have every third day off...

Here are two videos of the koalas in action...

Koalas only eat eucalyptus leaves and apparently eat only 50 of the 800 varieties that exist...The Sanctuary has four eucalypt plantations to feed the koalas and each day they cut three quarters of a tonne of leaf to feed the koalas in the Sanctuary...
Koalas have been listed as 'vulnerable to extinction' due to loss of habitat and loss of eucalyptus trees.  The Australian Koala Foundation is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to the conservation of the wild koala and its habitat.

Pierre: Well to quote you, "this is excellent, most excellent".
Cloon: I has a big surprise for you!
Pierre: Did you get me declared a famous "cowboy"?
Cloon: I'm still working on that one...uh, sorry about that. But theese surprise is a good one, trust me on theese one.
Pierre: Ok, I can't take the suspense any longer...
Cloon: I used my celebrity status to get you into the World's First Poutine-Eating Contest in Toronto.
Pierre: C'est formidable!
Cloon: You will be one of three Canadian amateurs battling for the title of champion.
Pierre: Who are you calling an amateur?
Cloon: Well I couldn't gets you into the "professional" category because they'z only accepting eating professionals from the United States. But I think you can takes it in the amateur category.
Pierre: Bien sur!
Cloon: So I'd like you to start with getting the "visualizations" going. Think about eating as much poutine as possible within 10 minutes.

PIERRE DU PORT FINISHES FILMING AUSSIE COWBOY & WESTERN MOVIE AND PRESENTS CLOON'S SECRET FINDINGS AT THE BIRDEE NUM NUM ESTABLISHMENT IN BRISBANE

Cloon: How are ya goin' little buddy?
Pierre: G'day Mate! C'est formidable!
Cloon: You've been very busy...can you let the Audience know what's been going on?
Pierre: Oui, oui. First of all, I had one of my dreams come true when I completed my walk-on role in a Cowboy & Western Movie in the Australian Outback.
Cloon: Wicked cool Christmas present, eh?
Pierre: That's right Cloon. I'll always be grateful to "Clooney Claus" for the best present ever!
Cloon: How did you prepare for your role?
Pierre: The book "Cowboys For Dummies" that you gave me at Christmas for all my hard work at Headquarters really paid off. And the fact that it was a "walk-on" role and I didn't have any lines really helped a lot as well.
Cloon: Excellent, excellent. Now the picture of you appears to have some green plants in the background... I thoughts the "Outback" was dry desert...
Pierre: Good observation Cloon. Well the Outback was actually green this year because of all the rain Australia's been having.
Cloon: Good, good. Now, most importantly...what was the reaction to my research paper: "Num-Nums: The Secret Laboratory Findings" which you presented at the 1st Annual Symposium On Feline Nutrition at the "Birdee Num Num" Establishment?
Pierre: The felines in attendance were gasping in astonishment. If "T.I.M." had been there, he would have had a permanent "silent meow".
Cloon: Excellent, most excellent. Was the "Birdee Num Num" an appropriate venue for the event?
Pierre: You couldn't have done a better job in scouting out a location to present your findings and hold the conference. Brilliant, really!
Cloon: Yes, theese one was a good one! Now, can you throw the Audience a bit of a bone about the information discussed at the Symposium?
Pierre: Actually, you had to be in attendance in order to be privy to the "information". Uh, sorry about that! Let's just say that there will be future pep rallies and demonstrations in the streets by Australian felines.
Cloon: Excellent work Pierre! I'z not a really good traveller so thanks for taking that "epic flight" Down Under for me. Remember folks, you heard it all here first...

CLOON'S HUMAN RECRUITS BABY WOMBAT

Cloon: Hello there Audience. I has my Human on the phone and she has some very exciting news! Go ahead, let's not keep them in suspense any longer...

Cloon's Human: First of all, how is "the last man standing"?

Cloon: Most excellent. I gets the "royal treatment" at "Squirrel Sanctuary".

Cloon's Human: Well I miss you my little man. Now without further delay, the exciting news...the baby wombat has signed on for your Australia Zoo in Canada.

Cloon: Excellent job. What are the conditions of the contract?

Cloon's Human: She requests an air conditioned burrow with good feng shui and a home theatre system and monthly "shopping sprees" at Winners.

Cloon: Those ladies are high maintenance! I'll get Private Eye's pocket gophers to start on the construction of the burrow immediately. Now it looks like the little wombat is pretty cuddly...I finds myself a bit jealous because you know I likes having your cuddles to myself.

Cloon's Human: Don't worry Cloon...you're still the cuddliest of all...you little "stuffed animal".

Cloon: You know I likes my flattery! Hurry home so I can start up my crazy antics for num-nums again, will ya?

Cloon's Human: Will do, Cloon. Will do.

Cloon: Audience...donate to the Num-Num Fund now and get yourself at the top of the waiting list for "cuddling the baby wombat photo". Phone lines are now open at 1-800-WOM-BATS...

Act soon to avoid disappointment.

CLOON TO BE REUNITED WITH KOALA TWIN AS KOALAS SIGN CONTRACT FOR THE AUSTRALIA ZOO IN CANADA
Hello, hello, hello everyone! I'z very excited to share the news with you that theese ones above have signed on for my Australia Zoo in Canada. At last my koala twin and I will be reunited and be able to hang out together. Apparently what closed the deal was the koalas learning that Headquarters will soon have access to all the latest digital TV channels. Theese ones told Pierre that if they were able to entertain themselves with such programs as Iron Chef America and Diners Drive-Ins and Dives as well as all the reality TV they can get their paws on, they would not sleep for 20 hours a day. I have signed off on a list of guaranteed programming for the koalas which includes: Dancing With The Stars, Survivor, The Bachelor, and American Idol (now that Ellen is a judge). Does anyone in the Audience know where I can get an unlimited supply of fresh eucalyptus leaves? Minor detail...off to my Secret Research Laboratory I go...

Cloon: Hello there Pierre! Ok, I'z besides myself with suspense, did the lorikeets sign on for my Australia Zoo in Canada?

Pierre: She be right mate.

Cloon: I needs an Aussie translator. Can you speak in Spanish instead?

Pierre: Si, senor.

Pierre: Just messin' with ya man! I learned from the best...uh that would be you Cloon.

Cloon: I know...karma's a *@##**!!! I learned all about it from "Stan". So, did you get theese ones to sign the contract?

Pierre: Oui, oui monsieur.

Cloon: Theese is excellent, most excellent. Did you give yourself a raise yet?

Pierre: Not yet, I'm still number crunching.

Cloon: How did you get the rainbow lorikeets to agree to leave such a warm climate for one that can be a bit frosty?

Pierre: Exactly. I told them that Canada can be a bit frosty.

Cloon: No seriously dude, how did you do it?

Pierre: Well, I said they would have unlimited bird seed, celebrity VIP status and of course season tickets to NHL hockey. It turns out they're all fans as well.

Cloon: It's a good thing I have "TIM" for connections.

Pierre: I think this is also going to involve a great deal of num-nums.

Cloon: That's what I'm afraid of. Well keep up the good work little buddy and have some Tim Tams on me, will ya?

Pierre: Seguro.

PIERRE DU PORT TAKES TIME FROM BUSY SCHEDULE TO ENJOY SYDNEY HARBOUR

Bonjour folks! C'est Pierre Du Port reporting live from Sydney harbour. I've taken the day off from recruiting for Cloon's Australia Zoo in Canada to see the iconic sight of the Sydney Opera House. I've enjoyed some didgeridoo at Circular Quay, toured "The Rocks" and done a bridge climb of the Harbour Bridge. Do not try this at home! You must have the right equipment and expert guidance. Of course felines and canines do not attempt this if you have a fear of heights as us "dog toys" are quite tough in this area. However, I must say that it was "wicked cool". Next I'm off on the ferry to Manly. I'll keep you all posted. And by the way, they need to start making "Tim Tams" in Canada...that's all I'm sayin'

TIM SNEAKS QUICK NAP TO RECOVER FROM PARTYING WITH "REEF MATES"

Hello Audience! Pierre Du Port emailed me this insider pic of "TIM" trying to grab a few winks after days of partying with the reef creatures. Unbeknownst to TIM, Pierre has gotten some "priceless" shots. At least Pierre didn't put lipstick on the guy or stick his hairy paw into warm water while he was "sleeping". He got off quite lucky with some private pics circulating the web. See felines, take note...this can happen to you when you go to 'Stralia. Theese one is a big "partay" place! Make sure to eat lots of Num-Nums before you start to party to give yourself a good base. Then of course, don't forget to take your sleep mask with you so you can get some shuteye in any location (see above photo). When you do wake up, remember the "hair of the dog":

2 parts Green Ale (or regular cerveza if green is not available)
1 part Num-Nums
1 part Vanilla Yogurt
1 tiny pinch of dog hair (makes sure it's TINY)

THEN PUT THEESE ONES IN MAGIC BULLET AND BLEND. THEN PUT CONCOCTION IN SHOOTER GLASS AND "DOWN THE HATCH"...

In 1 hour you will be back in business, trust me on theese one...

CLOON'S HUMAN RECRUITS COCKATOO FOR CLOON'S ZOO

Hello there Audience. I'z gots some very exciting news for you all. My Human has gotten a cockatoo to sign the contract for my Australia Zoo in Canada. She met theese one on The Great Ocean Road in the state of Victoria. When told that we have copious amounts of wild bird seed back at Headquarters, the cockatoo signed on immediately. The cockatoo also aspires to take on some secretarial duties at Clooney Credit Canada as she has always dreamed of advancing her career in theese area. The trip "Down Under" is shaping up to be quite the success as many animals are keen to see a "White Christmas".

STAY TUNED FOR MORE UPDATES...

CLOON RECEIVES SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM HIS HUMAN FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD

Well hello there Audience. I'z very excited today as I just received the above message from my Human. Theese one is a good one! I'z been staying at "Squirrel Sanctuary" while my Human and Pierre Du Port have been scouting out animals "Downunder" for my Australian Zoo in Canada. It's too bad I can't be with them, but I don't travel that well and I had to continue with my Clooneymobile operations here back home. The Assembly Line Elves are really high maintenance and need constant supervision. I has to make sure they don't take too many Num-Num breaks and slow up the production of the assembly line. As well as getting animals to sign contracts for the zoo, Pierre has also been handing out flyers for the Clooneymobile and we have been getting numerous enquiries. Theese has been excellent, most excellent! I just has to get the elves to figure out how to put the steering wheel on the other side of the Clooneymobile. They'z been doing some extra brainstorming on theese one. Well folks, I gots to get back to my squirrel watching... Rumor has it that Mr. L is quite jealous...

TIM JOINS PIERRE IN QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA

Cloon: Joining me via skype is "TIM" on location at the Great Barrier Reef, Australia.
Hello TIM, what is going on?

TIM: I'm just relaxing after a full day at the reef watching fish.

Cloon: Did you get to see some good ones?

TIM: Definitely, most definitely!

Cloon: Do you still prefer birds or are you converted to fish now?

TIM: Well I must admit I was very impressed with the spectacular colors and variety of shapes and sizes. It was very entertaining...But no, I still am a bird fan.

Cloon: Did you have a chance to promote the "Pink Nose Society" so far in Australia?

TIM: Yes I most certainly did. I was able to get some contributions to my birdwatching fund.

Cloon: Now who are the creatures beside you?

TIM: They'z a couple of mates I met out on the reef. They came back to land with me for a brewski and to discuss hockey. It turns out they're big fans.

Cloon: Fans of beer or hockey?

TIM: Uh that would be hockey Cloon.

Cloon: Do you think you can bring them back to Canada with you for my zoo?

TIM: Not sure about that mate...they'z pretty happy out on the reef, it's a pretty good quality of life.

Cloon: You could tell them you'll take them to an Oilers game...

TIM: Yep, that might work. I'll get back to ya on that one...

Cloon: Excellent...keep us posted, will ya? Over and out.

TIM: Over and out.

PIERRE DU PORT ASSISTS LIFESAVERS AT BONDI BEACH
Well hello there Audience. This is Pierre Du Port reporting live from Bondi Beach, Australia. I am working on my Lifesavers Certification with the blokes out at Bondi and need to clock a number of volunteer hours. Pretty rough, huh? Sorry to rub it in. Bondi rocks! "The Baby" might start coming here instead of Cabo if he knew how cool it was. No sharks, blueys or blokes drowning today so I've been chillin' out. Well back to the job...Talk to you soon folks.
