WALKABOUT WEDNESDAY

Well hello there felines.  Welcome back to our 2nd installment of "Walkabout Wednesday"...

Having sprouted feets, my tunnel is out and about on new adventures...

And is touring the country of Australia, taking in the sights of the koalas...

Theese koalas live at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in Brisbane...

Because of their low energy diet, koalas sleep around 19 hours a day to conserve energy...they give us kitties a run for our money!

Lone Pine is the largest koala sanctuary in the world with 130 koalas...

Lone Pine started in 1927 with a single pair of koalas named Jack and Jill...Sarah one of the koalas that lived here holds the Guinness World Record for living until age 23...captive koalas typically live between twelve and fifteen years...

The koalas live in different places around the Sanctuary according to their age and gender...

"Kindergarten" is where the "toddlers run amok" according to the Sanctuary!  The koalas here are between one and two years of age...

The koalas at the Sanctuary can be held and hugged by the visitors...they are only held for a maximum of 30 minutes a day and have every third day off...

Here are two videos of the koalas in action...

Koalas only eat eucalyptus leaves and apparently eat only 50 of the 800 varieties that exist...The Sanctuary has four eucalypt plantations to feed the koalas and each day they cut three quarters of a tonne of leaf to feed the koalas in the Sanctuary...
Koalas have been listed as 'vulnerable to extinction' due to loss of habitat and loss of eucalyptus trees.  The Australian Koala Foundation is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to the conservation of the wild koala and its habitat.

Join us next Wednesday for our new series "Walkabout Wednesday".

CLOON TO BE REUNITED WITH KOALA TWIN AS KOALAS SIGN CONTRACT FOR THE AUSTRALIA ZOO IN CANADA
Hello, hello, hello everyone! I'z very excited to share the news with you that theese ones above have signed on for my Australia Zoo in Canada. At last my koala twin and I will be reunited and be able to hang out together. Apparently what closed the deal was the koalas learning that Headquarters will soon have access to all the latest digital TV channels. Theese ones told Pierre that if they were able to entertain themselves with such programs as Iron Chef America and Diners Drive-Ins and Dives as well as all the reality TV they can get their paws on, they would not sleep for 20 hours a day. I have signed off on a list of guaranteed programming for the koalas which includes: Dancing With The Stars, Survivor, The Bachelor, and American Idol (now that Ellen is a judge). Does anyone in the Audience know where I can get an unlimited supply of fresh eucalyptus leaves? Minor detail...off to my Secret Research Laboratory I go...

CLOON DISCOVERS HIS LONG-LOST TWIN IN THE LAND DOWN UNDER

Well hello my Dear Audience, gather around ...I'z gots a little story for you all and it goes like this: One evening I was surfing the interwebs and I came across theese little fellow with a striking resemblance to myself (see 2nd photo above). So I says to myself, theese one must be my long-lost Brother from another Mother. I'z been trying to convince my Human to go to the Land of Oz to picks up my twin and brings him back to Headquarters. Please feel free to donate to theese most worthy cause of re-uniting me and my long-lost twin by donating to my Num-Num Fund.

The Top 6 Similarities Between Me & My Koala Bear Twin:

6) We'z both gray.

5) We both sleep approximately 18 hours a day.

4) We'z both nocturnal creatures hence being active during the night.

3) Threats to us both are cars (for me they compete with my Clooneymobile business) and dogs (except for Mr. L).

2) We both looks like "stuffed animals".

and the #1 Similarity...

1) We both depend on one certain food for our survival...for me it's Num-Nums and for my twin it's eucalyptus leaves.
