Today marks 4 years of the passing of my special soul kitty, Inka. When Inka was alive she had a special soft spot for ladybugs, always watching over them and following them around but never harming them (even though she was an expert bug-catcher and eater). After
Inka passed away, I witnessed ladybugs in unusual places and
circumstances. I thought if something was to be Inka's messenger, a ladybug would indeed be fitting.
Each year, the week before the Anniversary of her passing, I also see ladybugs. This year, I was graced by a whole ladybug invasion on my outdoor patio. Fifty or more ladybugs appeared one sunny afternoon out of the blue. I had never seen so many ladybugs at one time. It was truly special...and magical.
(The metaphysical meaning of a
ladybug is "energies of renewal and regeneration", "when it appears it
is telling us to let go and let God". It is said that "ladybug teaches
us to restore our faith and trust in Great Spirit. It initiates change
where it is needed the most. When ladybug appears it is asking us to get
out of our own way and allow Great Spirit to enter".)
Ladybug! Ladybug!
Fly away home.
Fly away home.
~Be Well My Sweet Inka~
Purrs to you today. Inka reminds my human, in a way, of her soul cat, Harlot. She was a fierce hunter, but since my human had a fondness for lizards, she would catch them and bring them to my human - alive. I know, I know, nowhere near as cute and cuddly as ladybugs, but still...
ReplyDeleteI love ladybugs (for some strange reason, they are called ladybirds here. Could have something to do with the children books by Ladybird).
ReplyDeleteThe thought of all those ladybugs congregating on your outdoor patio just before the anniversary of Inka's passing made me smile. It IS very special.
Hugs to you on this day.
The Whisppy's Mommy

I understand the special comfort those ladybugs brought to you and how extraordinary that they arrived as they did. Such a lovely lovely gift to treasure always. Days like this are bittersweet because you'll have such mixed but good feelings. Memories are the magic that ease the loss of a special furry one. Holding you and Inka in our hearts and sending lots of purrs and kitty hugs to you.
ReplyDeleteComforting purrs. I'm glad Inka found you because there are very few ladybugs here for her. Soul cats are special. I think I'm Pop's soul cat.
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely tribute for your beautiful angel Inka. It is so sweet of her being friend with ladybugs. Those ladybugs that have visited you are definitely her messengers. I think she is trying to tell you she was very happy kitty loved by you so much, and not to be sad.

First ((((hugs)))) to you on this sad day. I understand the significance of ladybugs because they told us when my mother-in-law passed that whenever we see one, that is her communicating with us. I am certain that Inka is doing the same

ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet and touching. We never knew all those things that ladybugs represented. We do know that ladybugs are good luck. Our mom has a small one tattooed on her back so good luck will always be with her. We are absolutely and completely convinced that when those ladybugs appear, they are a message from Inka. How wonderpurr that the two of you had such a close relationship. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
