This was the first picture my Human ever saw of me on the interwebs when I was about 5 months old. She found me at Happy Cat Sanctuary (a rescue group for abandoned and stray cats run by volunteers who trap, neuter/spay, release feral cats and provide long-term care and feeding).
I was found outside with my sister (who was named Dellilah by the rescue) when we were 2 months old.
The rescue has a Sanctuary that houses shy kitties. My sister still lives at the Sanctuary as she is still deemed a shy cat. This is how she is described in her profile:
- Sanctuary Cat
Sex:
Female
Type:
DSH white and grey
Age Group:
Adult
Special Status:
Shy Cat
Date of Birth:
July, 2006
Dellilah is a very chubby, soft and gentle little
girl who purrs as soon as you pet her. She has come a long way from
when we rescued her as a feral kitten. She has always been very quiet
and sweet. She has a little spot of black on the tip of her nose.
Delilah has tried a new home but is far too shy and timid, at this time
she is a permanent resident at the sanctuary. Who knows, maybe down the
road we can find her a trusting and understanding owner, but for now
she is safe and happy with her feline friends.
~
We think about her all the time and feel sad that she doesn't live with us or have a special forever home where she is loved and cherished. But we are very thankful that she is safe inside with food and shelter and other kitties she likes and the few Human volunteers she trusts. You can go take a peek at who Dellilah lives with here.
We are very thankful for the rescue Happy Cat Sanctuary and all the work they do to help stray, abandoned and feral kitties.
Today on National Feral Cat Day we think about my sister Dellilah and dedicate this post to her.

We are purring for your sister Delilah and are so pleased she is in a wonderful shelter where she is cared for.

Delilah is so very pretty. What a shame she can't find a home just because she is shy. She would probably get over that with some nice attention. We like her a lot. Take care.
ReplyDeleteWe are all purring for your sweet Sis. We love ferals and we love those who help them.
ReplyDeleteDelilah is BEAUTIFUL!
ReplyDeleteYou know, my sisters were pretty shy before they came inside. I - of course - was the bravest of the litter and came inside first. Then my brother Desdemona and then Constance & Beatrice came in together but for a month or so, the peeps weren't allowed to touch the girls.
Now, Constance uses Peep #1 as a mattress. MOUSES!
Purrs,
Nissy
What a lovely post for your sister Dellilah. I sure hope she will find her furever home, but it's really great she is safe and happy in the sanctuary.

Sweet Clooney we are so happy for you that you have a loving forever home. We enjoyed reading about your sister and we are glad that she has a safe place to live where people love and care for her. Thank you for sharing this story. Hugs and nose kisses
ReplyDeleteGeorge, we think we have said it before, but you and Fiona look like you could be twins, especially in your baby picture. We really wish Delilah could have a caring home like you do. Put we agree, if she has a roof over her head and is well cared for that is way better than what might have been your or her fates. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
