OCTOBER 14

Today, October 14, is the 3rd Anniversary of the passing of our dear sweet Inka.  She was the love of my life and Clooney's.  Below I decided to share the pictures that show the special bond she and Clooney shared:

The next three pictures are the last and only pictures I had taken of her in the month or so before illness and cancer overtook her.  It came on very quickly and unexpectedly as she had hidden it very well until she couldn't.

I think that grief is one of the most personal journeys we experience as feeling beings (animals included).  I believe that we don't ever get over loss but rather weave it into the fabric of our being and existence from that moment onward.  As Elizabeth Lesser has said, "grief is a demonstration of how deeply we have allowed another to touch us".

  12. A lovely and loving tribute. Your thoughts on grief are spot-on. You don't "get over" the losses, you merely adjust to the physical absence and keep plodding on.

Doesn't it seem that the world should stop, though? I felt that way with both Chum's and especially Annie's passing. I remember thinking about that, that the world just keeps going, even when we "stop" in our hearts and minds.

It's odd how our presence on this planet can be so utterly meaningless and so utterly meaning-full, both at the same time.
